Summary:
Response timeout occasionally occurs on some NEs when network-wide ASON trails are synchronized on the NMS.
[Problem Description]
Trigger conditions:
Network-wide ASON trails are synchronized on the SDH ASON Trail Management tab on the NMS.
Symptom:
The operation fails, and a message indicating that the server is busy or the equipment is performing other operations is displayed in the Reason column (the NE listed in Operated Object is the NE where the response timeout occurs), as shown as follows:
Identification method:
1. A version that has the problem is used at the site.
2. An NE where the response timeout occurs is configured with ASON services that start from the NE.
3. After adding or modifying an ASON service that starts from the NE, the NE is not displayed in Operated Object anymore.
[Root Cause]
There is a compressing process in command-based ASON service query. If the length of the compressed package is an integral multiple of 800, the platform does not send a response message to the NMS, because the package is sent to the platform with no terminator due to a code processing error. As a result, the NMS does not receive any response message.
[Impact and Risk]
The NMS querying ASON services that start from the NE is affected.
[Measures and Solutions]
Recovery measures:
On the SDH ASON Trail Management tab, filter out ASON trails that start from the NE where the response timeout occurs. Randomly select a trail and rename a different name for the trail.
Preventive measures:
None
Solution:
Upgrade the NE to the following versions or install corresponding hot patches.
NG SDH: V100R008C02SPC500+SPH505
NG SDH: V100R010C03SPC203+SPH209
NG SDH: V100R010C03SPC208+SPH211
NG SDH: V100R010C03SPC220 and later versions (unreleased)
OCS 9500: V100R006C03SPC200+SPH206 (If the JSCC board is used on the live network, replace it with the ESCC board.)
