During the maintenance of the transport network, the following operations are often performed:
(1) Upload NE data and add boards.
(2) Query board information on the NMS.
(3) Configure related service configurations on the NMS,
(4) Configure various types of service protection, including ASON.
(5) Enable some special maintenance functions, such as FD and OD.
If the system reports an error or other exceptions during the above operations, one of the possible causes is that the version does not match or the version is not supported. In this post, I will share with you how to check whether the version matches (Take NCE and OSN 9800M24 as an example).
Before performing this operation, we need to know the relationship between the service processing board, the SCC board, and the NMS:
The MNS directly manages the SCC boards, and the SCC boards manage the service processing boards.
Step 1: Obtain the version of the NMS and the board
1. Obtain the NMS version
Log in to the NCE main page, click your account in the upper right corner, and choose About. Then, the system automatically displays the version of the NMS software.
2. Obtain the SCC version
Log in to the Network Management APP of NCE, open the NE panel, and select an SCC board (The SCC module and cross-connect module of some equipment are on the one board), right-click and choose SCC Version from the shortcut menu. Then you can view the software version of the SCC board.
3. Obtaining the version of the service processing board
Log in to the network management app of NCE, open the NE panel, right-click a service processing board (for example, V5N220), and choose Version from the shortcut menu. Then, you can view the software version of the board.
Step 2: Query the version mapping information
1. Query the product version matching table
Download the product version documentation or version matching table from http://support.huawei.com.
The package is usually a compressed package. Open the document and you can find a match between them.
2. Analysis
The above figure shows that NCE can manage the earliest version V1R19 of 5.172.19.70, and SCC can manage the earliest version 5.172.19.70 of 19.70. we currently use V1R20 of NCE. Therefore, they are matched.
Take OptiX OSN 1800 II Enhanced as another example:
As shown in the preceding figure, the UXCL whose software version is 5.67.19.13 of the OSN 1800 IIE can manage the SL64 board of 9.23. The managed NCE-T version is V100R019C00 or later.
1. If the version of the service processing board supported by SCC does not contain the existing service board version, we need to consider upgrading/downgrading the service board or SCC board (generally, it is not recommended to downgrade).
2. If the SCC version supports a higher NCE version than the current NCE version, we need to consider upgrading the NCE version or downgrading the SCC version (generally, it is not recommended to downgrade).
Additional information
How to query the software versions of all managed devices supported by the NMS?
Query the product and version in the product documentation corresponding to the NMS version.
For example, query the product versions supported by iMaster NCE-T V100R020C10.
Recommend a tool
Recommend a helpful tool that allows you to quickly query version matching relationships.
Please note that this tool can query only the VRC version. The SPC version or CP version cannot be querie
