Description
Our ROADM network is built mainly using OSN 9800 M24 version R21, in the long distances we use the RAMAN amplifiers which compensate the attenuation and doesn’t affect the OSNR.
The new version of Raman Amplifiers called SRAPXF this board integrates 3 boards they are XFP , EDFA and Raman amplifier.
The problem happened When try to create OCH services in the first channel of the supper C-Band, the Trail creation page reply with an error message that (Wavelength is incorrect)
Wavelength is incorrect error message
This message is related to the configured number of channels ,the number of channels in the SRAPXF was 80 while it should be 120ch.
So I went to the NE Explorer >WDM interface >Basic Attributes and changed the number of channels to 120 in the channel number mode, but another error message ((the operation is limited by license))
the operation is limited by license
Actually we have adequate licenses, we just need to validate it from the path NE explorer> Configuration> Policy Management> NE License Authorization, and changed the C-Band RTU of (96-120) from 3 to 4 as in the attached picture.
C-Band RTU of (96-120) is 4
But the problem persisted and the error message that (the operation is limited by license) still appearing when try to change the number of channels to 120ch.
The Solution
After some attempts, I could find that, the License should be added to both the C-Band RTU of (80-96) and to the C-Band RTU of (96-120), because the default configuration for the board is 80ch and as we need to use super C-Band, so we need to go through 2 steps :- 1st is to the Extended C-Band and the 2nd from Extended C-Band to the Super.
After adding the C-Band RTU of (80-96) the amplifier channel number changed to 120ch and the trail adding for OCHs worked normally.
