Description
We newly started deploying OSN 1800V as OTN -PTN -SDH aggregation NEs in our network , but we encountered that the temperature in some sites rises up to 70 C especially in the TNZ5UNQ2 boards .
-The OSN1800V has a powerful FAN , We want the Fan to be in Auto state , to reduce noise and power of the FAN whenever possible.
The problem cause
– In our network we use many Z5UNQ2 boards in the same NE , these boards could be installed in only the right side of the NE, which is the far side of the FAN board.
– The setting of the FAN board wasn’t properly set .
The solution
– First we replanned the boards position , so we install boards which don’t need to be installed in the right side of the NE to the left side .
– Second we reconfigured the FAN setting correctly as follow :-
1- In the NE EXPLORE > Fan attribute > Fan speed Mode
From this page you can check the FAN speed level of the Fan and set the mode.
– Just make sure the value is set as Auto speed .
2- In the NE EXPLORE > Fan operating Mode
There are 3 modes in this list ( Normal , low Noise and Low temperature ) The default value in this page is Normal , Change the operating mode to Low Temperature .
If you are near the NE you will hear a change in the sound of the FAN and the air flow .To check the fan speed level go to NE EXPLORE > Fan attribute > Fan speed Mode
Here you will find the Fan speed mode changed to Low and the Boards temperature will greatly decrease .
Note :- if you choose the Fan operating Mode into Low Noise or Normal , the Fan speed Mode will accordingly change to Medium and the boards temperature will rise again.
