Summary:
Using a license file obtained before 2012-09-30, OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks cannot be created after the U2000 is upgraded to V100R006C02SPC200 or a later version.
[Problem Description]
Trigger condition:
If all of the following conditions are met, the issue will be triggered:
1. OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks are delivered during the period from July to September 2012.
2. The platform subracks are deployed using U2000 V100R006C02SPC100 and a temporary license file or commercial one (the commercial one applies to both OptiX OSN 8800 T32 and platform subracks).
3. After the platform subracks are deployed, the U2000 is upgraded to V100R006C02SPC200 or a later version. If a temporary license file has been used, it is to be replaced with a commercial one after the upgrade is complete.
Symptom:
1. When a temporary license file has been used, it fails to be replaced with a commercial one because of a mismatch in the subrack quantities supported by the two license files.
2. When a commercial license file has been used, after the U2000 is upgraded, the license file can be used to identify and manage the existing platform subracks, but cannot be used to create new platform subracks.
Identification method:
Method 1:
For the U2000 of V100R006C02SPC200 or a later version, use a license profile, import the commercial license file to the U2000, and query whether the subrack quantity supported by the license file is 0. If it is, the issue in this notice occurs.
The following figure shows an example.
To obtain the license profile, visit:

Method 2:
For the U2000 of V100R006C02SPC200 or a later version, navigate to the License Information window on the U2000 and query whether Capacity is 0. If it is, the issue occurs.
[Root Cause]
Before September 2012, the U2000 V100R006C02SPC100 manages OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks using a license file that is intended for OptiX OSN 8800 T32 subracks.
After the U2000 V100R006C02SPC200 was released in September 2012, the U2000 manages OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks using a specific license file, not the one for OptiX OSN 8800 T32 subracks.
[Impact and Risk]
A license file obtained before 2012-09-30 can no longer be used for creating OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks after the U2000 is upgraded to V100R006C02SPC200 or a later version.
[Rectification Scope and Time Requirements]
Use the preceding identification methods to check released commercial license files. If a license file is involved in this notice, promptly apply for a commercial license file specific for OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks by submitting a rectification e-flow.
[Rectification Instructions]
1. A license file obtained through a rectification e-flow is delivered in the same mode as that directly obtained in a sales contract. After submitting the batch replacement workflow, a service engineer obtains the new contract number and order number and downloads a license file in the (Flex Net Operations) FNO system. For details on rectification e-flow operations, see the Operating Instructions for Batch Replacement Workflow.
2. When submitting a rectification e-flow, attach the original license file and the license application template in Attachment in the e-flow, and add information about the sales contract (the contract number and BoQ).
3. When submitting a rectification e-flow, select No for Withdraw the Original License or Not. A new license file for OptiX OSN 8800 platform subracks is delivered for rectification in an increment mode, and the original license file does not need to be withdrawn.
